President Donald Trump on Thursday pardoned 23 pro-life activists charged by the Biden administration for peacefully protesting outside an abortion clinic.
Former President Joe Biden’s Department of Justice (DOJ) frequently used the Freedom of Access to Health (FACE) Act to target patients, many of them elderly, who were sentenced to multiple years in prison. The pardon comes one day before the annual march for which Vice President J.D. Vance is set talk.
“Twenty-three people were indicted. They should not have been indicted,” Trump said while signing the pardon. “Many of them are elderly. They should not have been prosecuted. It’s a great honor to sign this.”

In addition to prison sentences, many activists during Biden’s presidency faced fines worth tens of thousands of dollars. One activist was charged with “felony conspiracy against rights” and arrested at gunpoint in front of his children after his home was raided by the FBI.
Meanwhile, Biden’s DOJ will avoid repeating the many violent and destructive attacks on churches and life-sustaining pregnancy centers.

Biden has been a staunch defender of abortion during his presidency. He is a landmark Roev. Wade called for the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to overturn a “tragic error” and attempt to enforce federal abortion protections despite the incident. The former president also praised abortion advocates. He criticized the former plan for what he said was her “courage” and fearlessness in leading America to become a “nation of the free” while overseeing at least 3.8 million abortions. Father-son director Cecile Richards was awarded the President’s Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian award.
