El Pomar Foundation approves grants – The Burlington Record

The El Pomar Trustees, at the foundation’s December Trustees meeting, approved $45,000 allocated to five nonprofits and government agencies in the Northeast region.

Through the Foundation’s grant-making process, grants were awarded to the following organizations:

•Break the Silence, Inc. (Fort Morgan) — $15,000 for outreach in Morgan County.regional council

•Kit Carson Rural Development — $15,000 to build affordable housing.regional council

• Logan County (Sterling)—$5,000 for the TravelStorys project.regional council

• SARA, Inc. (Fort Morgan) — $5,000 for general operational support.Competitiveness

• Sedgwick County Economic Development Authority (Julesburg) — $5,000 for the Golden Plains BEST robotics team.regional council

Founded by Spencer and Julie Penrose in 1937, the El Pommard Foundation has an established legacy of general-purpose grants. The competitive process continues to be the Foundation’s primary means by which organizations receive funding.

In addition, over the past 85 years, El Pomar has developed or been commissioned to manage many other funds, as well as presenting merit grants in each region recommended by members of the Trustees and Regional Councils. . Competitive applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

A regional partnership program was established in 2003 to increase influence and establish connections across the state.

Each of the Foundation’s 11 regional councils advises the El Pomar Management Committee and recommends grants to support the community. The Northeast Regional Council recommends grants in Cheyenne County, Kit He Carson County, Lincoln County, Logan County, Morgan County, Phillips County, Sedgwick County, Washington County, and Yuma County.

Council members are local business, nonprofit, and public sector leaders who provide first-hand information about the current needs of their communities.
