JD FOSTER: How Republicans Can Break History And Hold On To House

Traditional wisdom says Republicans will lose the House in the 2026 midterm elections. While traditional wisdom may be correct in a two-seater majority, history, crossovers and nuts suggest that Republicans keep Democrats at bay.

Over the past half century, White House parties have typically lost an average of 22 house seats in the mid-term, but these 12 mid-terms show three different groups. For example, Republicans won eight seats in 2002 after President George W. Bush crushed the Taliban in Afghanistan. (Related: JD Foster: Blob reminds me that it still lives in Fantasyland)

Five times, the midterm produced wave elections, resulting in an average loss of 44 seats for the Presidential Party. Even small waves will wipe out Republicans.

For now, the most likely outcome is a basic case election that generates non-wave, non-period, or nine-seat Republican losses. Democrats then gain control of the house, but two other factors are active to offset that history.

Cook’s political report ranked The seats held by 39 Democrats are “competitive,” compared to only 29 Republicans. Additionally, Donald Trump won 13 seats by Democrats in 2024, while Kamala Harris won only the three seats that Republicans have charged.

Either metrics, competitive seats, or crossover voters suggest a difficult climb for Democrats.

Of course, the ace of Republican holes is Democrats. Focused Democrats will pose a serious threat to Republican opportunities. Instead, As even some Democrats have observedDemocrats are very attached to stupid people, and each appears to compete with the most unpleasant clowns on camera. Virginia Senator Mark Warner showed a talent for understatement when he observed Democrat brands are “really bad” Thanks to radical cheating.

To some extent, this is expected to plunge into discomfort. Democrats, who were badly beaten by their arch-rivals, have yet to accept the cause. Messages, messengers, or some kind of evil external influence? So far, Lean has been headed towards external influence, but they can’t find it. You can’t do what Democrats did, right?

Also, no one in the Democrats can stand out nationally. Former President Barack Obama is bored with old news, but Kamala Harris is melting like the evil witch of the West after Trump’s bucket of water. And Chuck Schumer, the Democratic leader of the Old Guard Senate, never looks good.

There is no way to slap the “new and improved” saddle on that old warhorse.

Looking at the next generation, Hakeem Jeffries, a minority leader, is usually a smart guy and regularly says really stupid things. He recently ranted that the cost of food, utility costs and more were too high.that’s true. But they are expensive due to Biden’s policy that Jeffries accepted. It’s ridiculous to think that everyone can cut utility costs in a few weeks.

When you watch a Democrat press conference, you see an older woman with purple hair competing with each other along with her younger members to drop the most “bomb.” For fun, I watch Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s head explodes every day.

Or take a look at the Wackadords in California Maxine Waters screams at some guys Just doing his job blocked the Ministry of Education’s headquarters from crashing. And what would she do if she went inside? She would only scream at someone else as long as the TV camera was lying around.

One of the certainties in this world is that bad things happen. It can occur between the present and medium period. If they’re bad enough and Trump is credible enough, Republicans can suffer a wave of disadvantage.

Otherwise, everything might act like everything added behavioured like of a rune of. Republicans may destroy history and keep their homes.
