‘So I Just Did My Thing’: Video Shows 9-Year-Old Boy Saving Friend’s Life On The Playground

A 9-year-old student at the Raleigh Oak Charter School in North Carolina saved her 7-year-old classmate from choking during a basketball game, WRAL News It has been reported March 9th.

The Jaytheon branch immediately intervened when Donimour began choking after swallowing granola bars during the game.

“I just did my thing, because I didn’t know he was actually choking, it was Heimrich,” Branch told the outlet.

Branch said he learned life-saving techniques from YouTube. The incident was captured on video.

“We teach our kids to take care of each other, so this is truly a prime example,” said Eric Johnson, executive director of the Raleigh Oak Charter School. “Jaytheon jumped into action right away. We’re really proud of him.”

Branch’s father, Oruefami, initially panicked after realising a missed call from school later that day.

“I had to call to school before for him. I wanted this time… I oh, well, don’t make this a bad thing. But I got the voicemail and he told me it was all good news,” he said. (Related: Video shows the governor of New Hampshire showing lobster eating competitors removed from asphyxiation)

The mothers of both children saw footage of the choking incident on Sunday and said they were in a state of disbelief about what happened.

“In the beginning, he didn’t realize he had to give him some Heimrich operations and stuff. It was amazing. I’m grateful that his friend was able to demonstrate it to him,” Aja Moore said.

The two boys were already friends before the incident and they have been approaching ever since. Moore, 7, said it was “good” to save him at brunch. The school will celebrate the branch’s act.
