A federal judge appointed by former President Barack Obama ruled Tuesday evening to block the Trump administration’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) from banning $20 billion in grants.

“By maintaining the status quo, the court “forces the government to cancel the dismissal” or “does not allow access to billions of dollars in grants,” the Chatkan wrote. “Preserving the status quo will not make these funds irreparable.”

The ruling represents a legal victory over three politically connected nonprofits that the Biden EPA chose to receive billions of dollars through the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) GGRF.
