Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy threatened to withhold federal funds for transportation from urban areas such as New York City if it could not keep the public transport system “safe.”
Duffy told Fox News that the federal government is providing New York City with money to keep the subway system clean and safe, but the city is still lacking. Instead of prioritizing the subway, the city said it would allocate “billions of dollars” to illegal immigrants.
“It’s dangerous. Duffy pointed out that misleading leadership could make him reluctant to use public transport, citing crime and lack of cleanliness.
“They don’t want you to drive your car, they’ll give you take train. Well, if you want me to ride the train, make the train safe and clean it. But if you don’t, we’re going to pull the money and give it an incentive to make it happen,” he suggested.
