Janet Mills, he entered the state in February, and the governor refused to comply with Trump’s ban on men in women’s sports. The survey concluded that the state “has policies and practices that violate Title IX.” According to In a press release.
“The results of OCR’s MDOE investigation confirm that boys are violating federal anti-discrimination laws by allowing boys to occupy girls’ sports and intimate facilities for girls.” “Today’s findings and proposed resolution contracts demonstrate to other entities receiving federal funds that the MDOE and Trump administration do not tolerate illegal discrimination against girls and women. If Maine does not quickly and fully comply with Title IX, it will begin a process of restricting MDOE’s access to federal funds.”
According to a press release, the department has sent a letter to states threatening it with “immediate enforcement action” if it does not agree to the resolution plan within 10 days. Potential enforcement actions include referring to the state with the Department of Justice (DOJ).
The resolution agreement requires that the state’s education department be able to comply with the prohibition on male athletes competing in women’s sports, update all policies to comply with the directive, and request an annual compliance report from all school districts. The state must also restore awareness of female athletes stolen by men along with an apology to the athletes.

Trump signed an executive order on February 5th, banning men from competing in women’s sports and subsequently demanding NCAA restored women’s records. Several female athletes were injured after being forced to compete with men, including 19-year-old Payton McNabb, who suffered traumatic brain damage after claiming that a male athlete claiming to be a transgender woman spiked a volleyball into her head.
Trump and Mills made a fiery exchange at the White House in February, when the president called for governor and pledged not to comply with orders protecting women’s sports.
The USDA temporarily suspended funding for the University of Maine system on March 10th, announcement On Wednesday, the university is currently compliant.
The Trump administration also announced Wednesday that it had subtracted $175 million from the University of Pennsylvania on the same non-violation issue as Title IX.
During his presidency, former President Joe Biden tried to rewrite Title IX to protect women from discrimination, in order to effectively undermine protection for women and include the protection of transgender individuals, which have been widely criticized for facing many legal challenges. The rules were challenged and eventually removed.
