Jonathan Turley Says Trump Is ‘Likely To Win’ Cases Against Judges Attempting To Block Deportations

Jonathan Turley, a law professor at George Washington University, said Thursday that President Donald Trump’s administration is “highly likely to win” against judges who try to block deportation efforts.

Trump summoned the alien enemy law of 1798 in mid-March to deport more than 200 members of Venezuelan criminal gangster Tren de Agua. After the appeals court upheld the federal judge’s ruling to return the resignation, Tarley said it is likely that the Supreme Court would oppose the judge’s suspension of the president’s actions.

“I think there’s a fair complaint here, like having a car that’s pushing an emergency,” Tarley said. “It’s pretty difficult to drive that car, and you’re here, a judge whose Supreme Court has imposed national injunctions, including Liberal justice, like justice. [Elena] Kagan opposed. She said, “This is crazy.” Congress is considering legislation that reduces the ability of lower court judges to do that accurately. I think there are benefits to that, but I think the Trump administration has a high chance of winning. ”

“I also think the Trump administration is likely to win most of these cases. I think federal judges are overexpanding themselves. They’ve invaded the second section. (Related: CNN’s Elie Honig says Trump’s deportation may have not denied the judge’s order at all)

Tully added that there is a “honest debate” on both sides about how the Trump administration used 18th century law. Alien enemy laws are usually called when two countries are at war with each other or when the US is invaded by foreign forces, raising questions about whether the law was legally used for deportation.

Obama-era appointee US District Judge James Boasberg prevented Trump from deporting criminal gang members in a March 15 ruling after the flight was already in the air. The White House denied it violated the judge’s orders and White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt Statement That the plane left us territory before the judge ruled.
