Phoenix (3TV/CBS 5) – Walks are important for a dog’s physical and mental exercise, but what about puppies in shelters? Luckily for hundreds of dogs, Maricopa County Animal Care and Managementthere are volunteers doing something good.
Happy dogs get a break from their shelters thanks to volunteers taking them for walks. With fewer foster homes this winter, staff at the East Valley Shelter challenged themselves to walk as many dogs as possible. We had over 250 walks last week!
Volunteers are central to places like this Maricopa County shelter and want to keep the momentum going. We are always looking for volunteers to help with dog walking, fostering and general shelter assistance. On average, volunteers commit at least 8 hours each month for a minimum of 6 months.
We offer flexible shifts for volunteers over the age of 18. Children as young as 15 can volunteer with a parent or guardian. In case you’re interested, Check the rest of the details and apply here! If you are considering adopting a pet from a shelter, here is the info.
