Pollster To Democrats: Either Get Control Of Your Party Or Risk Drifting ‘Completely Off The Edge’

voting analyst Matt Towery, who appears on Fox News on Friday, warns Democrats that they need to gain control of the party, risking drifting “all out of place.”

When appearing in “Ingraham’s Angle,” Towerley compared the political fate of former Democratic presidential candidate George McGovern in 1972 what Democrats are experiencing now. Towery criticized the Democratic Party’s current trajectory, suggesting that unless they are making significant reforms, they could be heading towards a similar election disaster.

“The Democrats now seem to be drifting more towards George McGovern in 1972. And if you remember that it didn’t work.

Democrat Minnesota Gov. Tim Waltz said Thursday that his party’s recent election defeats are not considered “bold enough” to promote policies such as immigration and diversity, equity and inclusion. He said he was concerned that Democrats allowed Republicans to control the story on these important issues.

In 1972, McGovern focused on anti-war and progressive policies, alienating moderate Democrats and causing election losses to Richard Nixon. Towery said Democrats face similar risks as their strong emphasis on opposing Trump could mask a wider and more pressing issue for the average voter. He told the party leader to regain control and redirect the focus.

“This is Democrats who really know what they’re doing with the party, and that’s people like Dan and others who have been running their campaigns for years, and they know the real issues people are concerned about, they have controlled this party, that’s going to be totally drifting from the edge,” Towerley said. Towery advised against the ongoing attack on Trump, saying that despite many controversies, Trump’s approval ratings are in good condition.

“They certainly can’t keep attacking Donald Trump, because I’m one poller who really understands that right about Trump, there are Rasmussen who votes every day, like Trafalgar and many other Rasmussen’s Robert Cahary,” Towerley said. “They show that there’s no President’s approval rating happening. It’s not going down. This isn’t the case. It’s not doing anything, either.

Trump achieved an all-time high of 47% approval and a 46% personal favor rating. Furthermore, 44% of Americans believe the country is currently on the right track.
