In conjunction with the National Weather Service Flagstaff Office, the Yavapai County Emergency Management Office of Emergency Management (YCOEM) will conduct county-wide testing of the Wireless Emergency Warning (WEA) and Emergency Warning System (EAS) on Wednesday.
At 11:00am on April 2, 2025, the test will be conducted in conjunction with the weekly National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) weather radio test.
These alerts can help you send important messages to your mobile phone, TV or radio about bad weather, emergencies, missing children, and more. The goal of this test is to ensure that the system works well and is safe and aware of Yabapai County residents. All residents with NOAA Weather Radio are encouraged to adjust to the frequency of 162.525 Megahertz (MHZ) for the weekly NOAA Weather Radio and EAS test at 11:00am on Wednesday, April 2, 2025.
The test lasts about 30 minutes. During the test, the phone will vibrate with a special sound, like an amber alert. Only residents who turn on test alerts on their mobile devices will receive this test message.
The test message looks like this:
“Yabapai County Emergency Management: This is a test of Yabapai County wireless emergency alert system on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at 11am (actual emergency). This system is used to share potentially life-saving information. This is not a test. This is a test. yavapaiready.gov Complete the investigation into this test. thank you. “
