Wisconsin school districts face complaints about policies that keep parents in the dark when their children identify the opposite sex at school.
Milwaukee Public Schools (MPs) should lose federal funds if districts do not change policies in response to President Donald Trump’s execution order “End the radical indoctrination in K-12 schooling,” several organizations defending custody said in a complaint sent Wednesday to Education Secretary Linda McMahaon and Attorney General Pam Bondy.
“The department should also require that MPs notify parents of children who maintain secret gender support plans without parental awareness,” alleges the complaint, including the Alliance Freedom of Defense (ADF), Wisconsin Law and Independent Research Institute (WILL), and Parent Education Education (PDE).
District’s policy It labels gender-related information as “confidential” and directs staff to remove it from student official records, and violates federal law, claiming it cites the protections of the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and Student Rights Amendment (PPRA).
Forms filled out by staff Connection The district’s “gender inclusion guidance” asks whether students’ parents “aware and cooperate” with the gender of their children. If parents are not cooperating, ask how to handle “school home communication.”
“This is a very important issue we see in school districts around the country,” ADF Senior Advisor Kate Anderson told the Daily Call News Foundation. “It really hurts, so there are a lot of lawsuits. Kids need parents, especially when they struggle with things as complicated as their identity, they need them to walk together.”
Anderson explained that the federal government has launched an investigation and that the policy can withdraw funds from schools that do not comply with laws such as the FERPA and PPRA.
US Department of Education (DOE) Release Survey of California’s Department of Education March 27th Law It prohibits schools from notifying parents of their children’s “gender identity” and claims that this is a violation of Phelpa. The DOE is also investigating the main policy of notifying parents when children are identifying opposite sex at school. announcement Friday.

“As you may know, more than 1,000 school districts across the country have adopted policies to hide gender transitions in schools from parents,” the complaint states. “Like many of these policies, the MPS’s “gender inclusion guidance” stipulates that students “have the right to be addressed” by their chosen positive names and pronouns that correspond to their gender identity, without notice or permission from their parents, of any age. ”
“Indeed, the guidance warns school staff. [to] If no formal changes to the official records have been made, please be careful not to clearly, imply or refer to the student’s actual or perceived gender identity or gender expression when contacting the parent/guardian.
Will Assistant Attorney Luke Berg said in a statement to the DCNF that parents “have a strict responsibility and a right to raise their own children.”
“While federal law recognizes the role of parents, school districts across the country are underestimating parental rights,” he said. “We hope that using a new administration that supports parents will completely eliminate these secret transition policies.”
