A record number of new agent applications have been filed with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) during the first month of Director Kash Patel in his post.
The station received 5,577 new applications in March, Fox News Digital First It has been reported.
“Hiring the most brave and brave law enforcement staff is a top priority for Director Patel and Deputy Director Bongino,” FBI spokesman Ben Williamson told the Daily Caller.

In April 2016, the FBI received 5,283 applications, the outlet noted. This was the latest example of monthly totals close to the number of applications submitted in March.
Patel posted a recruitment video in March, encouraging them to apply to the FBI.

The FBI averaged 2,797 applications per month in 2023 and 3,383 applications per month in 2024, according to FBI data obtained by FOX News Digital.
Over 10,000 new agent applications have been making applications to agents since January 2025, the outlet reported.
The Senate confirmed Patel as FBI director in February, with Republican Senators from Maine and Lisa Markowski of Alaska joining Democrats and voting against him. (Related: Kash Patel seeks the FBI from a spy game – here’s where he can start)
Dan Bongino was elected deputy director of the FBI in the same month.

Patel has pledged to take on politicization in the FBI and reorient the bureau towards catching criminals. He also advocates for transparency and opposition to government weapons.

This came shortly after law enforcement captured members of the top MS-13 gang in March, according to a statement at a joint press conference with Patel, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondy and Virginia Republican Glenn Yongkin.
