Cobalt processing plant proposed for Yuma County

Yuma County, Arizona (Kyma, Kecy) – Evelution Energy LLC says Yuma County is the ideal location for North America’s first cobalt plant.

They say it’s about opportunities, not just cobalt.

The cobalt processing plant proposed by Evelution Energy sits on 138 acres of land in Tacna. Once completed, it will become the only facility of its kind in North America, producing battery-grade cobalt sulfuric acid. Navaid Alam, president and CEO of Evelution Energy, said the project will have a positive impact on the community.

“It will create more than 3,300 direct and indirect jobs and more than $750 million in economic impacts in the community,” said Navaid Alam, CEO and President of Evelution Energy LLC.

Evelution Energy said it will offer technical training programs at Arizona Western College to help local residents prepare for future jobs.

Gil Michel Garcia, co-founder and general council Evelution Energy LLC, said, “We intend to focus on teaching workers how to treat cobalt and copper metallurgically, a similar process. It will be led by Arizona Western College.”

The goal is to reduce dependence on foreign supply chains by building a fully American-made solution.

“If it’s fully operational, we can supply and demand up to 40%.

According to Evelution Energy, no groundbreaking events have happened until later this year, but plans are already in progress.
