ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith said Tuesday that he was uninterested in Biden’s first speech he released since taking office in January.
“A waste of time. I was deaf. I watched it for about five minutes,” Smith said. “I wasn’t particularly interested in it because he’s no longer the president.”
But in contrast to Bethor, Smith criticized Biden’s records on immigration, pointing it out as a reason why he didn’t believe Biden’s statement was worth it.
“There were a few things he did when he was president, such as opening borders that are scary and clearly debilitating for this country,” he said. “And for that, it emphasizes the point he needs to go, and once he saw it, the man who once promised to become a temporary president decided he wanted to stay and had to be kicked out in the end.”
When CNN host Jessica Dean asked if he thought Biden’s speech was “helpful” to his party, Democrat California Rep. Ro Kanna also seemed eager.
“Well, he’s a former president. He certainly can talk,” Kanna said. “And hopefully he’ll have a say on the legitimate process of law.”
