Man accused of shooting at deputies in Yuma County sheriff’s helicopter

Dataland, Arizona (Azfamily) – The Arizona man is facing an accusation of attempted murder after allegedly firing fire with a law enforcement helicopter flying near Dataland, about 65 miles east of Yuma.

Investigators say Yuma County Sheriff’s deputies were on a routine aerial patrol when they heard the Bell 505 helicopter attack around 7am Friday. One of the three lawmakers turned to remote residential properties and reportedly saw someone pointing to a helicopter.

The deputies then heard another shock and then saw the remains in the cabin. The helicopter returns to the hangar, where deputies find a projectile puncture caused by a firearm.

No one was injured.

Detectives immediately began an investigation and identified the suspect as Dataland, 51-year-old Prince Mubarak. The agency’s special response team, along with Yuma PD’s special enforcement team, Border Patrol Tactical Forces, and Cocopa Police, served as search warrants at home and took Prince into custody.

Prince was then booked at Yuma County Detention Center with three counts of first-degree attempted murder. Mugshots were not available immediately.
