Newly obtained body camera footage shows the arrest of the self-proclaimed prophet, who, according to police, was carrying three underage girls in the back of a sealed trailer.
This video presents the perspective of a Flagstaff Police Officer and Coconino County Sheriff’s Deputy.
It was filmed in late August following reports that a witness called 911 after seeing a small finger sticking out and sticking out of the rear door of a trailer. It shows how to open the door and warn the people inside. Then, from the age of 11 she noticed that there were three girls inside.
When the police tried to question the girls, a woman in a maroon dress walked in.
The officer noticed what the young girl had on her finger. “The 14-year-old had her ring on her ring finger…they had them hidden. I mean, we know what’s going on here.”
It was Samuel Bateman who was driving the truck the police were transporting the trailer to.According to federal court documents, Bateman The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day SaintsA radical religious group that broke away from the modern Latter-day Saints Church.
Bateman reportedly had dozens of followers and more than 20 wives, many of whom were minors. accused of trafficking across
Body camera footage shows law enforcement interrogating Bateman. Bateman is then seen briefly resisting restraint by law enforcement.
He has been charged with three counts of child abuse and is currently in prison in Florence, Arizona.
