Former President Donald Trump argued at the Alabama Republican Party dinner on Friday that the conflict between Russia and Ukraine could have devastating effects on the world.
President Trump stressed the importance of ending the war between the two countries immediately. He said prolonging the conflict could have devastating consequences for the rest of the world. (Related: Trump jokes he needs ‘one more indictment’ to win election)
“I will settle the terrible war between Russia and Ukraine,” he said. “I know both of them very well. They will work out.”
He declared that he would achieve this “very quickly” and said he was the only candidate who could quickly secure peace between the two countries.
“I am the only candidate who can make this promise. I will stop World War III. It’s close.”
The former president suggested that modern technology would make World War III far more devastating and deadly than the first two wars.
“And it’s going to be a war like no other, because there’s no military tanks coming and going and shooting. They have nukes. The level of power is unbelievable.” he added.
Trump has made ending the conflict between Ukraine and Russia a central part of his campaign promises. In March, the former president Declared He said he would end the war between the two countries within 24 hours.
“If I say yes, there will be a settlement soon…within 24 hours there will be a settlement. We’re going to stop the third world war we’re heading for,” Trump said in March, Yahoo reported.
