Fox News host Laura Ingraham compared and contrasted Tuesday’s treatment of former President Donald Trump with his Democratic counterpart, claiming the recent indictment against him was “absurd political slander.”
“Trump did nothing and said nothing on January 6th that would result in criminal charges. I want to send him to jail,” Ingraham insisted. Ingraham called special counsel Jack Smith’s indictment announcement an “absurd political slander” and accused Trump of committing so-called crimes in the past when Democrats questioned the legitimacy of elections. He added that it was the same, no more, no less.
Ingraham also speculated on the timing of the indictment, noting that poll numbers for President Joe Biden have fallen amid bribery and corruption allegations.
“After Devon Archer’s testimony yesterday, we could now see for ourselves that Joe Biden is teetering under the weight of his own years of corruption. He’s gotten rich by selling influence, but is Trump’s crime against the outcome of the election, or is he going to complain to the governor over the phone, at a rally?” Ingraham said. He claimed: (Related: Attorney says ‘political speech’ faces ‘criminal prosecution’ at ‘highest level’ after Trump indictment)
Authorities on Tuesday indicted Trump for the third time for his role in the Jan. 6 riots at the Capitol. The charges, which Trump’s lawyers called “a direct attack on the Constitution,” accuse Trump of obstructing the Jan. 6 election process, conspiring to deceive the United States, and denying his right to vote and have the ballot counted. alleged to have conspired.
“No sitting president has ever been criminally charged because of his views or positions. By the way, is there any question that the United States has two justice systems?” Trump’s attorney John Lauro asked Mr. “Is Hillary Clinton indicted for a Russian hoax? Are the people who said ‘Don’t worry Biden’s laptop is Russian disinformation’ being indicted? no. “
Ingraham agreed, noting that Stacey Abrams was never indicted for questioning the results of the Georgia gubernatorial election.
“This is just another in a long series of political blows masquerading as federal law enforcement,” Ingraham concluded.
