“Well, I think the lack of a regulated response to the state of the Union was a mistake,” Schiff said. “Frankly, it focused on where it should be. This lies in the fact that the president spoke for an hour and forty minutes and had nothing to say about what he would do to cut costs.”
Schiff said how Trump’s speech didn’t help Americans “to afford a new home, to pay rent, to afford health care and childcare,” adding the methods Democrats need to “focus” on the economy.
“They are destroying the economy and it’s becoming increasingly difficult for Americans to afford things, and that’s where we need to keep our focus,” Schiff added. “That’s why we lost our final election because we didn’t focus on high cost of living. What they’re doing now is just making that worse in the administration, and that’s something that needs to be really emphasized.”
