ADAM WEISS: Trump Makes Dominating The Competition Look Easy

Donald J. Trump may still be the punching bag of choice for ratings-depressed mainstream media and politically-motivated federal bureaucrats, but the salt-of-the-earth folks ignored by America’s core, elevated elite continue to make it very clear that he will remain the top Republican presidential nominee for 2024.

And regardless of which poll you turn to, the gap continues to widen. (Related: Daniel McCarthy: 2024 could be the moment the Democrats’ worst nightmare comes true)

according to latest PBS Newshour and NPR Marist polls show that more than three in four Republicans and Republican-leaning independents (76%) support Trump, up from 68% in February.recently vote YouGov’s Economist magazine shows that Republican voters support President Trump 25% to 58% more than far-flung No. 2 Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

In addition, vote executed A study by data journalism group FiveThirtyEight found that Trump outperforms DeSantis by more than 30 percentage points, with DeSantis typically hovering around 20%, well below Trump’s average of 50-60%, a gap that has widened steadily in recent weeks.New Florida Atlantic University Main Street Polcom Lab poll also reported similar findings. No other Republican candidate in Congress has more than 4% support.

So why is Trump still the flagrant frontrunner?

First and foremost, the 45th President of the United States is a marketing genius, but his popularity doesn’t stop there. He’s an extraordinary character who boasts attention and presence, and a willingness to stand up to the bloated bureaucracy that relentlessly tries to bring him down.

There is something amazingly admirable about those who do not succumb to loud and powerful mobs. Mr. Trump has built a solid movement for America First, but nothing to shake a nation who wants their lives to come before foreign wars and the interests of the elite. He speaks frankly and speaks the truth. This is an unusual quality for any politician.

This election cycle is unique in that Mr. Trump is running as both a rebel and an incumbent, a candidate who can prove his track record and lay the foundation for what’s to come.he could even do that safety It was a major blow to Mr. DeSantis, who, despite the support of the majority of Republican lawmakers in Florida, has seemed to have had no heat since he entered the race almost two months ago.

Let’s be honest, charisma is important. I will never forget meeting DeSantis many years ago at a gubernatorial fundraiser hosted by President Trump in Mar-a-Lago. I took my sick father as a guest and tried to exchange light jokes with the governor.

He couldn’t say anything, he couldn’t make a smile. Meanwhile, Trump stayed to my right, insisting, with his characteristic New York pomp, that I bring his father over for a photo, enjoying the moment of meeting new people. It was supposed to be a DeSantis event, but my father returned to the nursing home and could only talk about Donald J. his.

While many rich donors have pinned their hopes (and checkbooks) on the current governor of Florida, President Trump has a wealthy battalion of small donors, also salt of the earth Americans, who feel they are making an incredible investment to see Trump succeed. After all, big numbers from a few wealthy people aren’t enough to build a following.

And last but not least, American voters need and want strong figures who are not afraid to challenge the status quo. Trump has no qualms about keeping his policies strong and pragmatic, while even many Republican nominees (except Chris Christie) are underdogs more or less afraid to resist.

After all, Trump’s inauguration has changed what it means to be a Republican across America. People kept making it known then and then. They want changemakers, not old-school politicians who serve a smaller circle of donors than working-class Americans. Only Trump is still knowledgeable enough to understand it.
