Featuring U.S. Congressman Robert Aderholt newsmax We discuss last week's visit to the southern border and ongoing efforts by several states, particularly Colorado, to ban former President Donald Trump from appearing on the 2024 Republican presidential primary ballot.
“I can't imagine the Supreme Court would allow states to remove candidates from the ballot. That's complete nonsense,” Aderholt said. “The president has not been convicted of any crime.”
“So this is totally politics.”
Aderholt (R-Haleyville) also said the broader effort to remove Trump from state ballots is actually helping the former president by showing voters that they are being stripped of choice. He said he believed it.
“I think something has to be done. The Supreme Court has to speak up and put an end to this issue,” he said. “This probably helps the president because the American people see through this and are very concerned that state courts are going to decide who becomes president when the American people come together.” I think it's because I'm frustrated with the whole thing.'' The whole body should make that decision. ”

The Colorado ruling prohibits Colorado's secretary of state from putting Trump's name on ballots and counting votes for the former president. The decision is now in the hands of the country's highest court.
“I'm confident that the Supreme Court will make the right decision, but ultimately it's not up to the state or the secretary of state of a particular state like Colorado to make the decision to exclude someone from the ballot. They will say, “We feel unqualified.''
On December 19, the Colorado Supreme Court ruled that Trump was ineligible to participate in the state's Republican primary because he violated the 14th Amendment.
