Congressional Republicans have pushed for HR2's language to be included in legislation providing foreign aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, but the Biden administration and Congressional Democrats have balked. The House of Representatives passed HR2, the Border Security Act, by a vote of 219 to 213. Vote May 11th.
Some House Republicans are calling for Mayorkas to be impeached. One resolution, sponsored by Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, was defeated on November 13th.
House Homeland Security Chairman Mark Greene will lead the impeachment process against Mayorkas, starting with a hearing on January 10th.
