ALFREDO ORTIZ: Harris’ Price-Gouging Push Shows She’s Not Ready to Lead

Vice President Kamala Harris, who launched a narcissistic celebrity campaign last month, has finally Soaked her We'll get into policy on Friday.

A centerpiece of her economic policy is opposition to price gouging. It is called He called for a federal ban on unfair food price gouging within his first 100 days in office.

Harris is using Americans' deep concerns about rising home prices to misdiagnose the problem and push for a massive government solution: Inflation is rising. More than 20% Under a Biden-Harris administration, Americans’ real wages and living standards will fall. “I make a middle-class salary,” said Jasmine Moore of Atlanta. said A Wall Street Journal column this week echoed the sentiments felt by countless ordinary Americans in a Biden-Harris economy: “But I feel like I'm a low-income earner,” according to the Job Creators Network's national SBIQ. vote 60% of small business owners say the economy and inflation are the most important election issues.

Harris has sought to avoid responsibility for her role in the cost of living crisis, including her crucial vote on the $2 trillion budget. Inflation Control LawHe fueled inflation — trying to shift the blame to others to get votes. Classic demagogue.

The problem for Harris is that the data doesn't support her price gouging claims: Wholesale prices — the costs of doing business — have risen in tandem with consumer prices; companies are simply passing on higher costs to consumers at the same rate.

If companies were really raising prices, as Harris claims, consumer prices would be far higher than wholesale prices. study Confirm that there was no increase in business markup.

I've spent 20 years as a food industry leader and can speak from firsthand experience that companies can only absorb so many increases in input costs while remaining profitable. When the costs of flour, yeast, milk, butter, and eggs rise, so do prices for bakeries. When the price of lemons rises, so do prices for lemonade stands.

But Harris and many Democrats don't understand these basic economics, likely because they have little experience in the private sector. Harris was a lawyer before entering politics. Her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, was a teacher before entering politics for the past two decades. Today's high prices are not the result of price gouging, but of the Biden-Harris Administration's reckless spending, especially its failure to provide annual reporting. Average deficit is $2 trillionThe administration's anti-energy regulations are also to blame.

Ms Harris' broad policy agenda remains a black box, and that's by design: She's better off running a campaign on media-fueled enthusiasm than on policies that divide her base.

Harris can run on a broad policy platform, but she cannot shy away from her record. With a more liberal Senate voting record than Bernie Sanders, she has proven time and time again to be a tax, spend and regulate Democrat. She is an integral part of one of the most progressive administrations in modern history. (Related: Democrats hope Harris avoids details, rides 'wave of enthusiasm' for as long as possible)

She supports a far-left wish list that includes a guaranteed minimum income, single-payer health care, a ban on oil and gas drilling, and defunding the police. She also wants a wealth tax, rent control, and radical labor legislation called the Protecting the Right to Organize Act.

Her positions are beyond the capacity of most Americans. Her nomination is a gift to former President Donald Trump and the Republican Party — if they stick to the script. Conservatives just need to explain how her big government policies will worsen the cost of living and undermine the Main Street economy.

Americans should not allow the media to join forces and redefine Harris as a moderate. Liberals never lose their true identity.

By choosing to use so-called price gouging to foray into policymaking this week, Harris once again demonstrated that she lacks the policy skills needed to help the American people and is not ready for prime time.
