Alabama Lawmaker Advocates for “Success Sequence” Curriculum
John Wahl, the Republican Speaker of Alabama’s House, is urging state legislators to support a bill that mandates teaching the “success sequence” in schools across the state. This proposed curriculum aims to provide a framework for young individuals based on extensive research. It outlines a path where students are encouraged to finish high school, secure stable employment, marry before having children, and adhere to these sequential steps.
The bill has already cleared the Senate but faces challenges in the House, where some Democratic members express concerns about its impact on those from non-traditional family backgrounds or divorced families.
Wahl shared his views on this matter during an appearance on WVNN’s “Yafie Program.” He emphasizes the importance of education that equips students for more productive and fulfilling lives, suggesting that this initiative could enhance their chances of success.
The legislation, initially introduced by Senator Arthur Orr, is backed by data showcasing how these teachings can positively influence students in the state.
“This isn’t just a theory,” Wahl remarked, referencing research and historical statistics that support the benefits of this approach. “It certainly helps young people grow into successful adults, and as we know, a healthy society is built on that foundation.” He also brought in a personal aspect, connecting his faith to the importance of these principles.
“As someone of faith, I recognize the worth of these concepts,” he shared. “They’re rooted deeply in biblical teachings, offering guidance on how to find true happiness and purpose.” Wahl expressed a strong desire for the bill to be approved.
