Analyzing Alabama’s wide receiver group for this season

Alabama Crimson Tide Prepares for New Season

The Alabama Crimson Tide is gearing up for its second season under Coach Calendar Boer, just a few months away from kicking off a new campaign.

Last season wasn’t a disaster, but it certainly fell short of expectations, especially after missing out on a spot in the inaugural expanded 12-team playoffs.

Despite some defensive struggles early on and various setbacks throughout the year, Deboer continued to implement his framework.

The team has solid depth at quarterback and boasts one of the strongest wide receiver groups in college football.

One standout is sophomore Ryan Williams, who’s entering his second year. He made a splash in his freshman season but faced challenges later on. Now, as a sophomore, he aims to establish himself as a top playmaker not just in Alabama, but across the nation.

Additionally, Alabama welcomes back Germai Bernard, a senior who transferred from Washington and was one of last season’s pleasant surprises, racking up nearly 800 receiving yards. Choosing to return to school instead of heading to the NFL Draft, he has a real chance to shine as one of college football’s better receivers.

Another significant addition is Isaiah Horton, a transfer from the Miami Hurricanes. At 6-foot-4, Horton could provide the physical presence that this receiving corps has needed. His arrival is seen as a major boost.

After the top trio, there are several other players to keep an eye on. Cole Adams is coming back from an injury and will play from the slot. True freshman Lotzeir Brooks from New Jersey is someone to watch, along with Rico Scott, who is poised to contribute after redshirting last season.

Defensive back Jalen Mbakwe is also set to see action on offense this year, returning from the transfer portal, which could lead to some exciting new plays.

All in all, this wide receiver group appears to be one of the best Alabama has fielded in over a decade. If everything falls into place, they could emerge as one of the standout units in college football.
