PHOENIX – The Arizona House will soon welcome new faces after Jasmine Blackwater Nyglen was appointed Tuesday to fill the spot vacated by the White House administration’s appointees.
The Apache County Board of Supervisors has nominated 25-year-old Blackwater-Nygren to the seat previously held by Rep. Arland Teller at a special session.
“Ahehi to everyone who supported my appointment to this office. Nation member Blackwater-Nygren said in a press release.
Democrats are expected to take office later this week.
The Arizona Democratic Party said in a press release Wednesday that it was “thrilled to learn of the appointment of Jasmine Blackwater Nyglen.
Blackwater graduated from Stanford University, earned a law degree from Arizona State University, and recently passed the state bar exam, according to a Navajo Nation press release.
Teller resigned on January 31 to accept a post in the Department of Transportation.
