A man from Southern Arizona has been arrested for allegedly making death threats against Donald Trump via social media, according to authorities on Thursday. This incident occurred while the former Republican president and 2024 candidate were visiting the US-Mexico border.

The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office identified the individual as 66-year-old Ronald Lee Sivld from Benson. Notably, Benson is in the same county where Trump was visiting earlier in the day, along with Senator JD Vance, who has been in the area for several weeks.

Authorities reported that Sivld was taken into custody around 2:30 PM during a traffic stop. They emphasized that locating this individual was part of their operational plan related to Trump’s visit on that day.

Online searches did not yield any social media profiles or contact information for Sivld. His name was not immediately found on the inmate list for the county jail, and no information was available regarding a court date or whether he had legal representation.

Additionally, the sheriff’s office indicated that Sivld faced multiple unresolved warrants from Wisconsin, had issues concerning his registration as a sex offender in Coconino County, Arizona, and was under the influence during his court-related operations.

Trump recently survived an assassination attempt on July 13. Just this Wednesday, he addressed a crowd from behind bulletproof glass during his first outdoor rally since that event, hosted at the North Carolina Air Museum & Hall of Fame in Asheboro.
