Tempe parents charged with child abuse
An East Valley couple has been indicted by a grand jury on charges of abusing children ages 4 and 12. The victims suffered bruises and swelling and were reportedly involved in non-fatal drowning.
Tempe, Arizona – Officials with the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office announced that two East Valley parents have been charged with child abuse.
In a statement released Dec. 17, the suspects were identified as 34-year-old Brittney Furch and 32-year-old Demetrius Jones, both of Tempe.
“On November 25, 2024, Tempe Police were called to a local hospital where two children, ages 4 and 12, were being treated for serious injuries. Their wounds included bruising, swelling, and non-life-threatening injuries. Contained signs of drowning,” the article read in part. That statement.
Prosecutors say Furch and Jones face multiple counts of child abuse and remain in custody. A $100,000 bond has been set for Mr. Furch and a $75,000 bond for Mr. Jones.
