Army Confirms US Soldier Who Was Injured On Biden’s Failed Gaza Pier Earlier This Year Has Died

The military confirmed on Monday that a US soldier who operated President Joe Biden’s Gaza aid pier earlier this year was killed, according to CNN.

“Mr. Stanley was injured in May 2024 while supporting a mission delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza and was being treated at a long-term care medical center,” Capt. Shukeira Milford-Glover said in a statement, according to CNN. said.

According to CNN, he died on October 31, but the cause of death has not been made public.

“Sergeant Quandarius Stanley was a front-line and respected leader of the 7th Expeditionary Brigade (TBX), particularly during missions providing humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza,” said Col. John Gray. said in a statement to CNN. “We continue to provide support to his family during this difficult time. Our entire force mourns with his family.”

Stanley and two other soldiers I was injured The Pentagon said it was a non-combat incident while manipulating scaffolding on a pier in May, but the exact nature of his injuries has not been made public. The other two suffered minor injuries, but Stanley’s injuries were far more serious and required immediate emergency treatment.

After receiving treatment at a hospital in Israel, he was transferred to an emergency medical unit in Texas in June.

Biden’s Gaza Pier has been widely seen as a disastrous operation that failed to deliver significant aid to Gaza and endangered the lives of U.S. military personnel assigned to operate the pier. Defense officials have been busy finalizing plans since Biden ordered the U.S. military in March to build the pier and open it quickly.

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Office of the Inspector General said this despite warnings from defense officials that construction could fail given Mediterranean sea and weather conditions and security challenges on the ground in Gaza. The Biden administration reportedly moved forward with construction of the pier. Report released in August. Officials also warned that it might not be effective in delivering large amounts of aid to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, which they ultimately did.

The pier opened in May and closed in July, much earlier than the Biden administration expected.

The military did not respond to requests for comment.
