YAVAPAI COUNTY, Ariz. — A man was arrested in Yavapai County after multiple gunshots rang out near a deputy conducting a traffic stop over the weekend, authorities said.
The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office identified 19-year-old Joshua Booth as the suspect.
According to authorities, the incident happened around 9:30 p.m. Saturday when police stopped a vehicle in the parking lot of JT's Septic in Humboldt for a narcotics investigation. As police were waiting for a police dog, gunfire began coming from somewhere nearby.
“Officers heard two gunshots fired in their direction from close range,” the sheriff's office said in a news release.
Officers ended the traffic stop and decided to track down where the gunshots were coming from and who it was coming from.
After an investigation, deputies identified Booth as the shooter, the sheriff's office said.
Several guns and shell casings were found in the driver's side of Booth's vehicle.
Booth was arrested and faces numerous felony charges, including aggravated assault and weapons charges, according to the sheriff's office.
