McDonald’s Responds to Rising Prices
The Big Mac is as iconic as it gets in America, but an $18 price tag? That seems a bit over the top.
Many things have gotten pricier recently, and it’s largely due to President Joe Biden’s administration and its spending policies. Gas, groceries, and even fast food prices have shot up. It feels like the days of combo meals under $9 are long gone, and the classic “dollar menu”? Well, that seems to be a thing of the past.
But there’s some good news—McDonald’s is finally taking action on these sky-high prices.

As reported by the Wall Street Journal, McDonald’s is planning to reduce the prices of combo meals, hoping to win back customers who might feel alienated by rising costs under the current administration.
In fact, the fast-food giant is set to lower the prices of eight combo meals by 15%. They are also introducing $5 breakfast options and $8 deals for the Big Mac and McNuggets by year-end, branding this initiative as “extra value meals” to underscore the affordability.
Joe Erlinger, who leads US operations at McDonald’s, emphasized that customers are asking for more affordable options that are characteristic of the brand.
It’s certainly necessary. Prices in various locations have reached alarming levels. For instance, in some California suburbs, a quarter pounder with cheese is going for $14. When did McDonald’s start rivaling prices of sit-down restaurants?
