Barron Trump May Join TikTok’s Board
Jack Advent, a former TikTok producer for Donald Trump, expressed hope that the former president will consider appointing his son Barron and perhaps other young Americans to the TikTok board to keep the platform appealing to youth.
The ongoing presence of TikTok in the U.S. remains intact, although discussions about changes in its ownership and licensing are surfacing. Recently, a framework was proposed that would transfer majority ownership of the app to American investors, significantly reducing the share held by ByteDance, the company behind TikTok.
On Monday, Trump made a return to TikTok with a video announcement. In his message, he mentioned feeling indebted to Generation Z for their support in keeping the app alive, stating, “To the young people of TikTok, I saved TikTok and I owe you a huge debt.” He also pointed out that viewers were watching him from the Oval Office.
Advent remarked that this move shows Trump is following through on his commitment to engage with TikTok, benefiting millions of users who rely on the platform for unfiltered news.
The future of Barron Trump on TikTok’s board remains uncertain. However, the 19-year-old has previously provided his father with useful advice, such as urging him to appear on a podcast during the recent election cycle.
Advent expressed optimism that Barron could help maintain the app’s relevance among young Americans. TikTok’s engaging short videos have captivated users, influencing many other social media platforms to adopt similar features. Perhaps, with input from Barron, TikTok might reconsider some of its content policies, especially concerning sensitive topics.
