Biden admin sues Texas over floating border barrier

The Biden administration is suing Texas over a floating buoy barrier along the southern border, according to court filings Monday.

When the Department of Justice (DOJ) sent a letter to Mr. Abbott last week suggesting legal action, the governor of Texas responded, “See you in court, Mr. President.” Abbott responded on Monday, reiterating his willingness to counter the Biden administration’s efforts to dismantle the border buoy barrier.

“While I share the humanitarian concerns expressed in your attorney’s letter, Mr. President, your points point in the wrong direction. Neither of us want to see another death in the Rio Grande. But your open border policy encourages migrants to risk their lives by crossing illegally through water rather than safely and legally passing through ports of entry. No one drowns on bridges,” Abbott wrote.

“U.S. laws prohibiting illegal immigration between ports of entry must be fully enforced to eliminate the risk of immigration illegally crossing the border and being harmed,” Abbott wrote.
