Excerpts from new books by Amy Parns and Jonathan Allen show that former President Joe Biden’s allies had planned an event in 2023 where someone else would have to take over the presidential bid.

Aides to former Vice President Kamala Harris reportedly carried a list of Republican federal judges who Trump had not appointed if Trump had to be sworn unexpectedly, Perns and Allen wrote. The idea was that being sworn by one of the judges on the list would be considered “more reliable for Republicans,” the excerpt says. Harris wasn’t aware of the list until the former staff member left in January 2023, but he wrote to his colleagues, “We had a communication strategy in place so if something happens to Biden, we should notify him immediately.”

Despite concerns from several allies that Biden might not achieve that through the 2024 presidential election, those closest to the former president believed he would survive the contest, the book author wrote.
“At the end of the day, I don’t think anyone in that inner circle is offering the president the opposite advice that this isn’t easy, or this may not be the best thing for Democrats.”

With concerns about Biden’s older growth, Perns and Allen revealed that Biden is looking at makeup artists before travel and meetings with aides to hide obvious signs of aging.
“Biden consistently made these makeup appointments, but he sometimes canceled briefings to follow,” writes Perns and Allen.
I was worried that the former president’s fitness had reached a new level in 2023. After giving a opening speech at the Air Force Academy graduation ceremony, Biden stumbled and fell. Throughout the year, the allies appeared to be planning an event that Biden’s declining faculty made him the best, but White House press secretary Carine Jean Pierre was kept publicly in the face of no issues with the former president.
