A federal judge blocked the deportation of eight migrants on Monday night, appearing to be avoiding a Supreme Court order issued hours ago.
The Supreme Court on Monday allowed the Trump administration to move forward by rapidly deporting illegal immigrants to countries not designated by the deletion order. It suspended an injunction issued by Biden’s appointee, Judge Brian Murphy, and requested that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) be given notification of immigration and allowed them to raise concerns about the potential threat of torture before being deported to a “third country.”
However, Murphy issued an order Monday night to block immediate removals in South Sudan at a US Navy base in Djibouti.
