Biden Orders Secret Service Protection For Kimberly Cheatle: REPORT

President Joe Biden has ordered the Secret Service to provide protection for former Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle, who resigned in disgrace following the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, three Secret Service sources told Real Clear Politics (RCP).

Biden took the unprecedented step of providing security for Cheatle under the Senior Security Service. said R.C.P.

According to RCP reports, Cheatle ordered the security because he had been facing “numerous threats” from individuals on social media following his missteps during the assassination attempt on President Trump and his “lack of transparency” during his testimony before the House Oversight Committee on July 22.

Sources told RCP that Cheatle is the first former director of the Secret Service in the service's history to be funded by taxpayers.

Cheatle resigned following a wave of bipartisan criticism following the July 13 assassination attempt. (Related: Secret Service agents abandon duties to protect President Trump while he breastfeeds: Report)

Lawmakers have sharply criticized Cheatle's agency for repeatedly refusing requests for increased security for the Trump campaign, a decision the Secret Service acknowledged, CNN reported. Reported.

First Lady Jill Biden held a speech in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, about 90 miles from Butler, Pennsylvania, where President Trump was shot, on the same day. Dean Peterson, a former Secret Service agent, told the Caller that as a member of the current administration, there would normally be greater scrutiny.

Jill Biden was heavily involved in selecting Cheatle as secretary. According to sources The New York Post reported that Cheatle served as an aide to Jill when she was second lady in the Obama administration, a Democratic source told the paper.

According to the Washington Post, one of Gill's top advisers, Anthony Bernal, also strongly lobbied for President Biden to nominate Cheatle as secretary.

“We heard Anthony was pushing her as a candidate for the role at the time,” a source told The Post.
