Biden to blame for higher than expected inflation, Alabama’s GOP delegation says

Alabama's Republican congressional delegation is criticizing President Joe Biden after the latest inflation report showed prices rose more than expected in March.

According to the Labor Department's Consumer Price Index, which measures the prices of everyday items such as gasoline, groceries and rent, inflation rose 0.4% in March from the previous month and 3.5% from the same period a year earlier.

Biden tried to downplay the news, saying, “Inflation has come down dramatically from 9 percent to closer to 3 percent. We're in a better situation than when I took office, when inflation was soaring.”

But the president acknowledged that this could force the Fed to change its plans.

“It may be delayed by a month or so, but I don't know,” Biden said. “I don't know what the Fed is going to do specifically.”

Rep. Gary Palmer (R-Hoover) said this is a direct result of “Bidenomics.”

Rep. Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville) explained what these increases mean for the average Alabama family.

Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-Auburn, lamented what he called the “new normal” in the economy under Biden.

Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) argued that this is a “legacy of Bidenomics.”

She also said Americans “deserve better” from their leaders on the issue.
