Bill Morris declares his intention to run for Alabama HD50

Bill Morris Announces Candidacy for Alabama House District

Bill Morris, a longtime civil servant and community leader, declared his intent to run for the Alabama House District on Thursday. He promises to leverage his extensive local government experience and strong commitment to St. Clair County in the state legislature.

A lifelong resident, Morris was the mayor of Moody from August 1992 to August 2003, during which he guided the city through a time of consistent growth and infrastructure upgrades. Since then, he has been the General Manager of Leeds Water Works, managing daily operations. Additionally, he actively serves on the St. Clair County Board of Education, advocating for the success of schools and students. Recently, he was appointed to the newly established Central Alabama Waterboard by Governor Will Ainsworth.

“We’ve dedicated our lives to making our community better, safer, and more prosperous,” Morris remarked. “Now, I want to channel that experience into serving the people of the 50th district in Montgomery and enhancing the lives of families across St. Clair County.”

Morris highlighted three main priorities for his campaign: supporting law enforcement, investing in workforce development, and strengthening education.

“If elected, we will strive to secure the necessary resources for our schools, broaden vocational training and career opportunities, and always stand behind the men and women who protect and serve our communities,” he emphasized.

House District 50 encompasses most of St. Clair County, a swiftly growing area in central Alabama. His release noted that with a reputation for practical leadership and strong local ties, Morris seeks to bring a stable and experienced perspective to the Alabama House of Representatives.

He has previously served on the State Enforcement Republican Committee in St. Clair County and was appointed by Sheriff Billy Murray to the St. Clair County Sheriff Foundation. Additionally, he acted as the county coordinator for Governor Kay Ivey’s campaign in 2018.
