Bodycam Footage Shows Moment Cops Shoot Down Texas Mall Shooter

Body camera footage released Wednesday shows an Allen Police Department officer shooting the shooter dead at a shopping center.

The gunman, identified as 33-year-old Mauricio Garcia, opened fire at the Allen Premium Outlets on May 6, killing eight people and injuring others. According to newly released footage, police arrived at the scene and shot the shooter dead after chasing him around the premises.

The video shows a police officer speaking to a woman and two boys in a shopping mall parking lot before gunshots rang out. He quickly called other officers, grabbed his gun, and rushed toward the building.

“Get back and move!” he commanded the visibly frightened people fleeing the building. “Get out of here!”

The officer walked past the entrance and headed in the direction of the gunshot until he encountered Garcia a few feet away. The video shows him firing several shots at the 33-year-old Garcia before he was shot dead. (Related: Body camera footage shows police shooting dead a stranded, gun-armed psychopath)

“I dragged him down. Watch out for fire. I took him down,” he told other officers at the scene.

He and another police officer then walked slowly toward the deceased Garcia, gun in hand, and pronounced him dead.

The eight victims killed in the attack ranged in age from 3 to 37. according to Texas Tribune. Among the dead were three children aged 11, 8 and 3.
