Republican Georgia Governor Brian Kemp on Monday advised Republicans not to get distracted by the indictment of former President Donald Trump.
“We don’t need distractions to win the 2024 presidential election,” Kemp said. Said Robert Costa of CBS News. “We need to focus on the future. We need to communicate our purpose to the American people.”
President Trump faces a total of 37 federal indictments related to alleged mishandling of more than 300 classified documents after leaving the White House in January 2021, and has been indicted on federal charges. He became the first former US president. While many Republican lawmakers have voiced their opposition to the charges, dismissing them as politically motivated, President Trump has declared the charges to be “election interference at the highest level.”

“President Trump has been targeted in many ways, many of which are unfair,” Kemp continued. “But I also think there are serious concerns about this indictment. Kemp argued that Republican candidates should focus on issues that affect everyday life in the United States, such as inflation, crime and border security. “I believe the Republican Party needs to focus on exactly this and not get bogged down in this prosecution policy,” he told Costa.
