Former California Senate Majority Leader Gloria Romero announced Friday that she is leaving her party in opposition to Democrats' crackdown on gas stoves.
“Enough is enough,” Romero said, switching party affiliations to the Republican Party after disagreements with Democrats. According to From NBC News 4 San Antonio: The former state Senate Majority Leader's comments come as the Department of Energy (DOE) plans to institute new “energy efficiency standards” for gas stoves and electric cooking appliances.
“For example, I don't think banning gas stoves solves anything,” Romero said. “As a Latino, I'm not going to give up my gas stove just because I can't toast tortillas on an electric stove. This is just bad news and another reason to leave the Democratic Party.”
