“A Georgia appellate court reversed a trial court’s decision that allowed Fani Willis to continue her case. It was unfair that Fani Willis had a romantic relationship with Nathan Wade, the prosecutor she hired. “It appears that there is, so the only remedy would be for Nathan Wade to leave the prosecution team,” Polisi said. “Now, the appellate court said, “Well,” we need to remove her and the entire firm from this case, because this aspect of the misconduct is too great for the public to bear. And even if there was no actual conflict, that appearance alone is enough to disqualify her.”

“Fanny Willis is currently taking the case to the Georgia Supreme Court, and the state of Georgia says there is no real conflict for her office to move forward with the case, even though there may be fraud.” “It’s a case of saying this even though it’s not a rule,” she continued. “I don’t think she has much of a chance of winning. This is a pretty well-known conservative court, and she would have to overturn the Court of Appeals. So I don’t think it’s going to work out well for her.”

The Georgia Court of Appeals cited “appearances of improper conduct” in deciding to disbar Willis, saying the step was necessary “to restore public confidence in the integrity of the proceeding.” Ta.

In August, a grand jury indicted Trump and 18 others on RICO charges for allegedly trying to overturn Georgia’s 2020 election results.

Trump’s co-defendant Michael Roman originally filed a motion in January 2024 that revealed the relationship between Willis and Wade. The complaint accused the district attorney of using money he earned as a special prosecutor to take vacations with him and secure lucrative contracts to benefit him financially.

John Yoo, a Justice Department official for former President George W. Bush, said in December that it was unlikely that another Georgia district attorney would take on Mr. Willis’ case.
