Resignation Announcement from Autauga County Board Chair
Tracy Strichck, the current chair of the Autauga County Board of Education, has announced her resignation. During the board’s meeting on July 15, she revealed her plans to step down to become the new executive director for Alabama children, which is a non-partisan education advocacy organization in the state.
Strichck has represented District 1 on the ACBOE since 2022. According to the Autauga County Schools, she mentioned that she has implemented programs and policy updates focused on students, which have helped stabilize the district’s finances and increase transparency for stakeholders. She also guided the district during critical oversight transitions, culminating in the hiring of Lyman Woodfin in July 2023.
“It’s been an incredibly rewarding experience,” Strichck said at the July 15 board meeting. “Autauga County feels like home to me, and it was truly an honor to collaborate with such passionate educators, administrators, and fellow leaders. I’m looking forward to this new chapter but also excited about the chance to shape my community’s future through education initiatives.”
Woodfin, the principal of Autauga County Schools, expressed his gratitude to Strichck for her service on the board.
“On behalf of Autauga County Schools, I want to sincerely thank Tracy for her commitment and leadership on the school board,” Woodfin stated. “As a significant figure in our community, her thoughtful decision-making and strong advocacy for our students and unwavering support for our teachers have left an enduring impact on me and everyone in our district.”
The ACBOE has appointed Jamie Jackson as the new chair and started the process to fill the District 1 seat. Candidates for this position need to be qualified voters and residents of both Autauga County and District 1.
Meanwhile, the Voice for Alabama Children announced the appointment of a new executive director in a press release.
“After an extensive search, we’re proud to announce that Dr. Tracy Strichck has been appointed as the executive director,” the announcement stated. Dr. Strichck is a seasoned leader with over 25 years of experience in early childhood systems, public policy, and state coalitions. This appointment follows Ronda Mann, who dedicated nearly 24 years to the organization, guiding its public policy agenda and research capabilities while assisting with the leadership transition.
“We appreciate Ronda’s invaluable leadership throughout much of our organization’s journey, especially her insights during recent times of change. Adapting can be tough, but we believe Tracy’s ambitious vision and passion align with our goals. From our first meeting with her, it was evident that she is the right choice to lead us forward,” the release continued. “Tracy brings legislative wisdom, exceptional fundraising abilities, and a steadfast commitment to improving children’s lives in Alabama.”
Strichck shared her gratitude and enthusiasm for her new role, expressing appreciation for the voice’s dedication to data-informed advocacy.
“I am honored to help lead us into the next chapter,” Strichck said. “Children in Alabama deserve every chance to succeed. I’m excited about bridging research, policies, and practices that support their well-being.”
The organization noted that Strichck will focus on developing the 2026 Legislative Policy Agenda and collaborate with lawmakers and community stakeholders.
“With Dr. Strichck at the helm, we expect to remain a leading voice for children’s needs across Alabama. We’re committed to advancing policy solutions that enhance data, encourage public discussion, and create stronger, fairer outcomes for all children statewide,” the organization concluded. This includes the annual release of the Alabama Kids Count Data Book, a comprehensive resource about children’s well-being across the state.
Strichck will officially begin her new role as executive director on August 1.
