Security guards forced out a group of climate change activists protesting Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm from a hotel in Birmingham, Michigan on Monday, a video posted to Twitter showed.
Video footage also showed security guards forcing several swearing demonstrators out of the building and throwing an activist to the ground outside the hotel entrance. Some of the demonstrators booked a night in a hotel to stage the protest and attended the event wearing nametags with fake names. according to to the Detroit Free Press. Mr. Granholm finally spoke as scheduled, stating:[she] will march with the demonstrators, according to to the Washington Examiner.
Climate Defiance is a group of wealthy American elites, including Harvey Weinstein’s former lawyer, Hollywood author Adam McKay, oil heiress Eileen Getty’s charitable foundation, and Hillary Clinton’s organization Onward Together. It is one of several emerging climate change activist groups indirectly funded by .
The challenge of climate change has made headlines in recent months with numerous devastating protests. The group is protesting Democratic West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin’s June remarks, Democratic Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar’s May speech, and the 2023 White House Correspondent’s show. dinner.
