Wilcox
The Historic District includes Arizona’s oldest continuously operating store, the Wilcox commercial, where Geronimo shopped, and the salon where Warren Earp lost his final shootout. The Rex Allen Museum showcases the famous western movie star and singer. The annual Rex Allen Days celebration also showcases Wilcox’s impact on ranching and agriculture.
Douglas
Douglas will captivate you with stories of its mining and ranching past and rich Mexican culture. Not far from town is the Slaughter Ranch, a National Historic Landmark, once owned by Cochise County Sheriff John His Slaughter. Marvel at the historic Hotel Gadsden, with its grand marble columns and staircase and Tiffany-style stained-glass windows.
Bisbee
Once the ‘Queen of Copper Camp’, Bisbee is surrounded by the Mule Mountains. Although the mine closed in her 1970s, its heritage is preserved in the mine’s landscape and architecture, including the heritage staircase that clings to the side of a steep canyon. Today, the booming mining town is an eclectic mix of antique shops, art galleries and fine dining.
Sierra Vista
The “Hummingbird Capital of the United States” is the largest city in Cochise County. In addition to stunning natural beauty, the city offers adventure seekers exhilarating opportunities for road cycling, mountain biking, rock climbing and more. Outside of town, the National Park Service operates the Coronado National Memorial. On nearly 5,000 acres, it commemorates Francisco Vazquez de Coronado’s march from Mexico for his Seven Golden Cities.
