Cochise County Board Hires Owner’s Representative for Jail Project

A significant initiative will be launched in Cochise County aimed at enhancing detention facilities, following an informative presentation from a representative of Vanir, a firm known for project management and construction oversight. During a work session on July 23, 2025, the team discussed their role as representatives for ownership and emphasized their dedication to ensuring that the project aligns with county objectives and budgetary limits.

The Vanir team, consisting of seasoned experts with a solid background in the design and construction of detention facilities, acts as an extension of the Cochise County Board of Supervisors. Their duties involve overseeing the project through its planning, design, and construction stages, ensuring everything runs smoothly and efficiently. They stressed the significance of addressing risks early on to avoid costly alterations and delays later.

A major element of their strategy is a 90-day action plan that incorporates kick-off workshops with stakeholders. This structured beginning aims to create clear communication and transparency, which are vital for the project’s success.

Vanir representatives also highlighted the importance of managing the budget effectively, noting that their services often justify themselves by curbing unnecessary expenses and making wise use of taxpayer dollars. They intend to craft a comprehensive project management plan that will be a dynamic resource throughout the project from inception to completion.

The meeting underscored the county’s proactive measures to enhance its detention facilities, emphasizing resilience and operational effectiveness. As the undertaking moves forward, regular updates and transparent reporting will keep stakeholders informed and bolster public trust in the county’s commitment to responsible governance and resource management.
