Coconino County, Arizona – Coconino County is working harder to resolve cold cases in the area.
On Tuesday, authorities announced that the Coconino County Attorney’s Office is working with the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office, Flagstaff Police Department and other local agencies to create a cold case unit.
Veteran prosecutors, paralegals and legal assistants will focus on reviewing and analyzing previous unresolved cases and work closely with local law enforcement on updates and efforts.

The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office has operated its own cold case unit, staffed primarily by volunteer investigators since 2008.
The team helped identify victims in two major cases, “Valentine Sally” and David Wilkinson, but the person responsible for their deaths has not yet been determined.
“We are deeply committed to seeking justice for those affected by these unsolved crimes,” said Sean Connolly, chief of the Flagstaff Police Department. “This cold case unit will reconsider the evidence and bring together the right people, resources and skills to provide the victim’s families with the answers they deserve.”
