Coconino County Sheriff’s Office looking for man who fled traffic stop

The suspect, Brayan Machado Campos, is allegedly fled to the forest near Cosnino after finding “substantiated illegal substance” in the car he is in.

COSNINO, Ariz. – The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in finding a suspect who ran from a traffic stop after deputies found “substantiated illegal substance” in the car he is in.

CCSO said K9 unit representatives had pulled a car on Interstate 40 near the town of Cosnino east of Flagstaff around 10:52am on Sunday, seized “substantial illegal substances.” Police did not specify exactly what was seized.

Two were then taken into custody. Those people have been identified as 29-year-old Carlos Bojörquez Velázquez and Luis Chides Verzuko (25).

However, inside the car was a third man who police were unable to detain when he ran into the forest south of the highway. The man has been identified as 24-year-old Brayan Machado Campos.

CCSO lawmakers and law enforcement officials from several other agencies have since begun a search of Campo forest, but after a few hours of search they were unable to find him. Lawmakers say Campos last saw it wearing blue jeans, a red shirt, a light black jacket and black van-style shoes.

Velazquez and Verdusco have been booked at an adult detention facility in Coconino County on charges of transporting drugs for sale.

Anyone with information about Campos’ location will be asked to call the CCSO at (928) 774-4523 or to call 911.

This is a developing story and will be added as details become available.
