Flagstaff, Arizona — This is just a test. Residents in the Flagstaff area will hear loud sirens on Thursday as Coconino County officials test the flood area warning system for the museum fire.
Testing will begin at 9am on Thursday, June 29th and will continue until 10am.
This test is planned to ensure that updates to the siren system are properly installed. This update includes the addition of Navajo translations to broadcast messaging.
During the test, residents of Grandview Homes and Sunnyside, and possibly other residents, hear an audible alarm, followed by three repeated voice messages in English, Spanish, and Navajo.
The alert ends with a siren sound indicating the end of the message.
Officials say the sirens would go off in a real emergency. no Indicates that the flood-related threat is over.
